Alberta Outfitter #1.....

This outfitter offers elk hunts in the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies as

well as in the rolling foothills located west and northwest of Calgary. Minimum

size requirements in some zones are 6 points or better while a 3-pointer is legal minimum size in their other zones.

The archery elk hunts start in late August when the bulls are usually in the rut and runs through October before their rifle season opens.

The rifle hunts take place both during the rut as well as during Oct and Nov. Archery elk hunts can be combined with a mule deer or whitetail, depending on the zone. Their rifle elk hunts are usually their first hunts to sell out due to the high demand for these hunts.

Archery Elk / Whitetail combo Hunt During the Rut:

These Alberta elk hunts take place during the start of the rut in

the bow season on a mix of government and privately owned

land. The size of elk you will be hunting for is between 250 and

350 class 5X5 and 6X6's. It is an exciting time to hear the elk bugling and to call them into bow range. This is a ten-day hunt

in order to have a good chance at getting a good shot at an elk

and whitetail.

Their elk hunts are hunted from their fully furnished lodge that

is located 40 minutes south of Grande Prairie, Alberta. With 3 bedrooms in the lodge and private Cabins located on site you

will be assured a comfortable nights sleep. Living room, dining room and fireplace creates a relaxed atmosphere for relaxing

after a days hunt. With bedding, towels and laundry service all supplied it's easy to travel with a minimum amount of luggage.

This hunting area is a mix of private and public hunting land in the foothills on Alberta's rising ridges of Pine and Poplar

that gives way to the Rocky Mountains in the background. Using trucks and Quads they access their hunting areas using

the logging and oil roads. Hunting stands are located looking over cut blocks and pipelines.

Hunters fly into Grande Prairie for elk hunts where they will be picked up and dropped off at the Grande Prairie airport serviced by Air Canada and West Jet.

PLEASE NOTE:

"Wildlife Identification Number" (W.I.N.) is required for all hunters. The W.I.N. number is simply a permanent number received in advance to help speed up the license process there in Alberta. Only return clients who have hunted Alberta during the fall of 1998 or later will have this new number already. W.I.N.numbers will be purchased prior to your arrival.
