New Mexico Outfitter #1
This outfitter is offering New Mexico elk hunts on private land on three
premierranches. The ranches are located in the Sacramento Mountains
of south-central New Mexico. We are offering archery and rifle elk hunts
on these three ranches.
These private-land elk hunts are high-success hunting experiences that
are possibly the best in all of New Mexico. Realize all private land, even
in New Mexico is not created equal when you start comparing other
private land hunts!
Our outfitter has secured landowner permits for these three private ranches to offer the finest private-land, guaranteed-
tag elk hunts in the state.
Ranch # 1 is one of the premier elk-hunting ranches in New Mexico. The almost 6,000 acre property lies in the foothills
of the Sacramento Mountains in central New Mexico. This ranch is entirely free-ranging, and borders the Mescalero
Apache Indian Reservation for over 7 miles. There is no finer free-ranging trophy elk hunt in the country.
Ranch # 1 lies between 6,000 and 7,000 feet in elevation. The terrain is mountainous, but yet not extreme. There are abundant canyons with depths measured in the hundreds of feet. The dominant vegetation is juniper and pinon pine with interspersed grass. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the easiest place possible to hunt elk and 10 being
the toughest terrain on earth to hunt elk, they give this hunt a difficulty rating of 5.
Ranch # 1's rifle hunts are conducted in October through December. The majority of the hunts are conducted well
after the rut has ended. Although lots of bulls reside on the ranch in the fall, it always seems that the winter hunts
may even produce more good bulls. The ranch is a favorite wintering ground for many bulls that spend the summer
on the reservation. Regardless of the dates, these rifle hunts have produced over 76% SUCCESS on 300+ bulls
over the past 9 years! You will not find a better free-ranging elk hunt.

price includes a landowner permit which is a voucher that allows a hunter to purchase their $561 hunting license.
Other than drawing a elk tag the landowner permit is the only way to obtain an elk license in New Mexico, residents
and nonresidents alike.
All meals and field transportation will be provided. Airport service is available into El Paso, TX or Albuquerque, NM.
You can either rent a vehicle and drive into the lodge or charter a van from a local service to bring your group to and
from the airport.
The Ranch # 2 offers some of the finest elk hunting in New Mexico. The approximately 4,000-acre ranch is located
in the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains in central New Mexico. This ranch is entirely free-range and borders
the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation for over three miles. The quality of the bulls in this area has to be
experienced to be believed.
Ranch # 2 lies between 5,500 and 6,000 feet in elevation. The terrain is characterized as rolling hills and iscovered in
a combination of juniper, pinon pine and live oak. The canyons are relatively shallow with vertical variation on the ranch
of no more than 500 feet.
Difficulty of the Hunts On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the easiest place possible to hunt elk and 10 being the
toughest terrain on earth to hunt elk, they give this hunt a difficulty rating of 2.
Ranch # 2 rifle hunts are conducted in October through December. The majority of the hunts are conducted well
past the rut. Similar to Ranch # 1, the area is a primary wintering ground for bulls on the Reservation. As a result,
their rifle hunters have enjoyed a 92% shot-opportunity rate on 300+ bulls over the last four years. Over the same
time period, Ranch # 2 has produced 75% SUCCESS on 300+ bulls.

chances at trophy bulls. Over the past four years, archery hunters have enjoyed near 80% shot opportunities at
300+ bulls. They have had near 50% SUCCESS on 300+ bulls in that same time. With better shooting and a lot
fewer misses the success rate could have approached 70%.

Ranch # 3 is located in the foothills of the Sacramento Mountains in central New Mexico. It consists of 10,000
plusacres and is entirely free ranging. The surrounding area is not noted for the high populations of elk which exist
in the Sacramento Mountains ecosystem. But the area is noted for producing better top-end bulls. Extreme mass
is a genetic trait that is prolific in this region.
Ranch # 3 sits at around 6,000 feet in elevation. The terrain is more of a flat plain with numerous hills, and small
mountains. The ranch does not have the deep canyons that characterize Ranch # 1. Most of the small canyons
drain these high points. The ranch has been well managed over the years, and contains numerous meadows
with interspersed stands of juniper and pinon pine.
Difficulty of the Hunts On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the easiest place possible to hunt elk and 10 being the
toughest terrain on earth to hunt elk, they give this hunt a difficulty rating of 4.
Ranch # 3 rifle elk hunts will be conducted primarily in early to mid -October. Unlike the other ranches they hunt,
this ranch is at it's very best in the early season. They have not hunted ranch # 3 in rifle season the past couple of
years due to a late October opening date. That has changed, beginning in 2009 they were able to begin rifle hunting
on October 1. They brought in one rifle hunter who killed a 350-class bull on the first morning. Even counting the first
two years when they hunted late the overall success rate on 300+ bulls has been 75% and the success rate on 350
class bulls has been 50%. The early-season dates are going to make the hunting even better.

New Mexico Outfitter #2
This New Mexico elk hunt on private proeprty adjoins 5 miles of the famed, Jicarilla Apache Reservation, game management unit # 5a, renowned for it's fantastic, hunting opportunities. It is 8 miles West of Lindrith, New Mexico.
All of their elk hunts are licensed through the "Private Land Owner Tag
System" so that there is no draw process to wait out. Simply stated, you
sign up with this outfitter for a hunt this fall and you will be going hunting
this fall.
This outfitter guarantees a reasonable shooting opportunity to every one of his clients, for whatever type of game
they are in pursuit of. If the client fails to have that opportunity that client will be refunded 1/3 of the hunt fee itself.
How many outfitters do you come upon willing to back up that kind of commitment!?!
They vow to keep the number of hunters in camp as low as is necessary to maintain the type of quality hunt every
hunter wants to go home remembering. They can and will, tailor hunt dates to suit a hunter's needs if necessary.
They are capable of scheduling, any five day period for a hunter, from the beginning of September until the end of
March providing they don't precede any public hunt with the weapon used.
They also carry out numerous herd management, cow elk hunts for those not able to make a bull hunt, for whatever
reason. These hunts are great freezer packers as well as a great way to start a new hunter out (a little less of the
fever if you will).
Unit 5A
Transportation Mode and Hunting Methods
All hunting in unit 5a is carried out in 4-wheel drive vehicles.
New Mexico elk hunts in unit 5a can be a little out of the normal. For the
most part "spot and stalk" methods will be used while glassing the open
parks and sage brush flats. After morning hunts you take up stands near
water holes frequently used by the bulls. The reason for this tactic is that
the terrain in unit 5a consists of very thick cover such as, Bigelow Sage,
Rabbit Brush and Chamise, not to mention some very dense, stands of
Juniper and Pinion Pine trees. To push this type of heavy growth usually
will just push the elk out of the country.
Lodging, Meals and Guiding
All of their clients for these hunts will be lodged on site in a combination of a refurbished wood cabin and some RV's.
These are furnished by the outfitter. Their cabin is rustic and has a porch area that makes the whole trip worthwhile.
All meals will be prepared on-site and are fit for a king. Guides for these hunts will be a combination of local residents
and their staff; all very familiar with their surrounding country and elk.
Terrain and Elevation
Terrain in this Unit is pretty forgiving for the most part. The vegetation on this property consists mainly of dense Pinon
Pine, and Juniper type trees with some very thick under story growth. There are three major ridges and two major arroyo systems that cut through this property, which provide for some excellent cover for the resident game and provides as
well some very enjoyable scenery. The average elevation on the Ranch is between 7000 and 8000 feet above Sea Level.
The Ranch is located approximately seven miles west of Lindrith, New Mexico.

New Mexico Outfitter #3
This outfitter won "2010 SCI Outfitter of the Year"
Private Land Rifle Hunt
This hunt occurs on private ranches near Raton, New Mexico. These ranches have
the potential to produce 300 B&C class bulls for the hunters. The cost of the hunt
includes meals, guide, transportation during the hunt, and trophy preparation of
the animal. Hunters are is responsible for their personal gear, weapon, transportation
to Raton, New Mexico, and license $576 across the counter. Because the outfitter
is always looking at additional ranches, acquiring new ranches, and negotiating
new leases the price of the hunts on new ranches may be different than advertised.
Rifle hunts begin in early October to take advantage of the rut and the bugling of the
bulls. The outfitter monitors elk on the ranch and if there are no elk, your hunt will be
moved or changed to the next year. You will be hunting where they know there are elk.
This outfitter has always presented his hunters with opportunities to harvest bull elk.
Private Land Rifle Hunt Info:
Dates: Oct. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31, 2010, any five days
Cost: $5,500.00 plus 8 % sales tax
License:$576.00 - across the counter
Self Guided or Drop Camp Elk Hunts
These hunts are only offered in Game Management Units 51 and 52 and are offered for all weapon types, rifle, bow
and muzzleloader. These hunts are designed for those hunters that are looking for a quality hunt, feel confident
about hunting elk on their own, do not need a guide, and don’t want the hassle of having to bring and set up a camp.
The self-guided hunts include:
The use of the outfitter number for drawing a license
Accommodations in a main tent camp
 Meals
A person in camp with maps knowledgeable of the area to direct the hunter to good areas
 Retrieval of game
The hunter is responsible for:
Applying for the license. The odds of drawing these licenses are excellent with the use of the outfitter number
 Their personal gear
 Weapon
Transportation to and from camp and during the hunt
The two units that they hunt, Unit 51 and 52, can be described as follows:
Unit 51 is located directly below Unit 52 in North Central New Mexico
and is approximately 380,000 acres ( 594 square miles ). This unit
allows the use of four wheelers on any designated road or for the
retrieval of harvested game within the majority of the unit. This unit
offers the hunters easy access, with an excellent elk population and
limited hunting pressure. The unit offers almost a 100% opportunity
to draw a license with the use of the outfitter number. We did not offer
self guided hunts in this unit last year but the guided hunters had an
84% hunter success and a 100% hunter opportunity.
Unit 52 is located in North Central New Mexico, with Colorado as its northern border. This unit is approximately
300,000 acres in size and is a roadless/wilderness area that prohibits off road vehicles and off road traffic of any
type. The area has numerous open roads within the unit, often two to three miles apart, which allows the hunter
access to areas to hunt by foot. This unit has an excellent elk population and the number of hunters is controlled,
as opposed to most of Colorado’s public land units. The odds of drawing a license are excellent with the outfitter
number. Bow hunts can be combined with a mule deer hunt and/or a bear hunt also, at no additional hunting fee.
Last year we had a 92% success rate with our self guided hunters. Over the last three years, they have averaged
higher than 80% success with their self guided hunters.

and have the history of gettingclients on big bulls. These are excellent
units and because of this it is difficult to draw a tag. Last year these
units produced several good bulls with one scoring over 350 B&C.
The cost of the hunt includes accommodations, meals, courtesy transportation during the hunt, retrieval of the
harvested animal, and caping of the animal.
The hunter is responsible for arriving in camp, personal gear, weapon, license andstamps, gratuities, and care for

Guided Elk Hunt - Valle Vidal
The Valle Vidal unit of the Carson National Forest is one of the premier trophy elk areas in the United States. Created
in 1980, it has been continually managed for quality elk hunting. The only way to hunt this once in a lifetime area is
by drawing a license. Due to the demand for the licenses in this area the odds of drawing are small. The cost of the
hunt includes accommodations, meals, appropriate number of guides, retrieval of game and trophy preparation of
animals. The hunter is responsible for putting in for the license $787 with the outfitter's help, their personal gear,
weapon, and transportation to and from camp. The deadline to apply for this hunt is April 7.
